Privacy Policy

Welcome to DanubeAlert.com. We are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard the personal data provided by users, in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations regarding data protection.

1. Data Collection

At DanubeAlert.com, we collect the following types of personal data:

  • Identification Data: Name, surname, email address, phone number.
  • Authentication Information: Login credentials (email address and encrypted password).
  • Usage Data: Information about your interactions with the website, including IP address, browser used, and time spent on our pages.
  • Notification Data: The alerts you set up and how you want to receive them (email).

2. Data Processing Purposes

The collected data will be used for the following purposes:

  • Providing DanubeAlert Services: Account creation, authentication, and management of user notification preferences.
  • Communications and Alerts: Sending notifications regarding water levels, in accordance with the user's personalized alert settings.
  • Improving Services: Analyzing user behavior to optimize the user experience and website functionalities.

3. Data Transfer

DanubeAlert.com does not share personal data with third parties without the explicit consent of the user, except where required by law or where needed to run the service: Cloudflare delivers the website and therefore processes visitors' IP addresses, map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap and browser notifications go through your browser's push service. Visit statistics are collected with Umami, which we host ourselves and which uses no cookies. The site runs on servers operated by us, emails are sent from our own mail server, and backups are kept as encrypted copies.

4. Data Security

We protect user data through technical and organizational security measures, including password encryption, access control, and monitoring of our systems for detecting potential security vulnerabilities and threats.

5. User Rights

In accordance with applicable legislation (GDPR), you have the following rights:

  • Right of Access: You can request information about the personal data we store about you.
  • Right to Rectification: You can correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to Erasure: You can request the deletion of personal data under certain circumstances.
  • Right to Data Portability: You can request the transfer of your personal data to another operator.
  • Right to Object: You can refuse the processing of your data for direct marketing purposes.

To exercise these rights, please contact us at adrian@danubealert.com.

6. Cookies

A cookie is a small file that the site stores in your browser. These are all the cookies we use.

The language cookie

The da_lang cookie remembers the language you chose. It stays for one year. Without it, the site suggests a language from your country or browser.

The session cookie

The payload-token cookie appears only when you sign in. It keeps the session open and goes away when you sign out or it expires.

Your country, in the browser

Your country stays in your browser, not in a cookie. da_tara remembers the country you chose and stays until you delete it. da_tara_ip remembers the country found from your IP and goes away when you close the tab. Both hold only the country, never the IP address.

No ads and no tracking

We use no advertising or tracking cookies. We do not sell data and we do not follow you on other sites.

How to remove them

You remove them in your browser settings. If you remove da_lang, the site suggests a language again.

7. Changes to the Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be published on this page, and users will be notified if necessary.
